The Story Behind Ernie Els Wines
Ernie Els Wines is a prestigious South African winery that has been producing iconic wines since its establishment in 2005. The winery is nestled in the heart of the Helderberg Mountains, a region globally recognised for its exceptional red wines. The winery’s prime location offers panoramic views of Cape Town and Table Mountain to the west, and Stellenbosch and the Helderberg Mountains to the east.
The vineyards of Ernie Els Wines are planted on the slopes of these mountains, benefitting from high-potential soils and the ideal growing conditions for their favoured varieties. A large portion of the vineyard is devoted to Cabernet Sauvignon, with dedicated blocks planted facing north and north-east to absorb as much sunlight as possible. This is the key to producing the fuller and fruitier wines that Ernie Els Wines are famous for.
